Baby Shower: Paris, Ooh la la!

No, I didn’t hop on a plane and fly to France this weekend (I don’t even think that’s possible with the current border restrictions), but I did attend the cutest baby shower! This past Saturday, I went to Payton’s French-themed baby shower (Payton is Tristan’s sister-in-law and my good friend!). Despite the pandemic, we had a socially-distanced outdoor garden party, which included everything from a French patisserie, a shopping district, and even (inflatable) swans on the lake!

There were pre-made charcuterie boards placed in cute boxes for guests to collect as they arrived. Once they said hello, they were able to make their way to several picnic blankets. Each blanket was made by or from someone special in the family. There was also an iron-on station where you could design bibs, burp cloths, and onesies! Such a cute idea! Both Tristan and Payton’s moms are so talented and organized everything for the special day. They even let me in on the action and I was able to create a backdrop for one of the stations!

I started with two 8 x 4 foam core boards. Now let me just start by saying these two boards don’t easily fit inside my small apartment! So getting the pattern transferred onto the board was quite the adventure! I’ve included some photos to show how I made it work. Luckily, Tristan left to golf the first day I started work on this piece, so I was able to take over most of the living space. Deacon kept me company as I scaled the image to size, and he graciously allowed me to borrow his spot on the couch.

As you can tell, my progress was slow and steady (I worked on and off on the boards for a few days). Deacon would often assist me by sitting directly on me. I can only assume he was trying to get my perspective on the project. I worked one half at a time until I was able to trim the pieces and and put them together at the event.

It was so much fun to make something for Payton’s special day! I’m so excited for the next few weeks to pass so I can finally meet the newest addition to the family!!
