We Picked Our Wedding Venues: Greenville, SC

Rose Garden @ Furman University
Daniel Chapel at Furman University

Tristan and I have officially finalized our ceremony and reception venues for our wedding next year (aka we signed on the dotted line), which means… I can finally share the news with you!! After months of planning and touring venues throughout Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, we picked the perfect location. We were looking for a place that both of our families can travel to easily, has a great food scene, and, most importantly, is meaningful to us. Look no further than Greenville, SC (#yeahthatgreenville). Tristan and I met there six short years ago, so it holds a special place in our hearts.

Tristan and I (and many of our guests – including my dad!) attended Furman University, so we knew it needed to be incorporated into our wedding plans. So, our ceremony is on campus at Daniel Chapel! Better still, my childhood pastor is officiating our wedding!

We haven’t decided if we’re having a First Look or not, but I imagine we’ll take photos on the beautiful campus alongside our wedding party and families. Fingers crossed that the rose garden will be in full bloom!

For our reception in the evening, we will be partying all night (or until 10:00pm – Thanks city regulations) at Wyche Pavilion in the heart of downtown Greenville! The venue is kinda an “open concept” space, if you will, with awesome views of the Reedy River. It’s certainly a design-heavy space, meaning we’ll need to bring in LITERALLY everything. Luckily, I’m working with the best design team around who knows exactly what the vision is for our big day! I’m currently editing another post to share soon with our inspiration for the color schemes, designs, and layouts. It’s going to be fabulous!

I’ve visited Wyche Pavilion several times throughout my college years. On many occasions, my best friend/roommate and I would bike the 16-mile round trip from campus down to the city to get bubble tea at O·CHA Tea Bar. While we sipped and cooled off, we would walk around the city to see what was going on. Usually there was music at the Peace Center Amphitheater right next to the space. To my excitement, there were weddings at the venue almost every Saturday during the summer. I’d often ooh and ahh at how spectacular a place Wyche Pavilion was. What an amazing dream come true that my own wedding will be here before too long! Funny how things sometimes come full circle. 😉

Bonus photo below from years before: Standing with one of my best friends outside the future reception space! Fun fact, Kim and I are in each other’s weddings next Spring/Summer! Such a fun time to be brides together!! Also, Deacon cracks me up in this photo (he got a blow out at the doggy spa that day!).
